Welcome to Disaster Relief Training!

May 1 unit training for Food Service, Mud Out, & Chain Saw Units ONLY

For those who are already trained, but want to cross-train, just register for a training event, go train and you are good to go for another unit.

For first-time trainees:   

- Register for a training event.

- Do the Pre-Training work. (3 online video courses & 3 forms to fill out)

- Once your Pre-Training work is completed and you clear a background check, you are now certified for Ohio Disaster Relief.

- The final step is to train for your unit. That is done either at the in-person training you registered for or you may deploy with your unit and train, OJT (on the job training)

The May 1 traing at FBC Lancaster, Ohio is a special, Sunday training in conjunction with the churches missions emphasis. Guest speakers for the weekend include Kevin Ezelle, NAMB President and Bryant Wright, Send Relief President.

2:00 Gathering/Orientation

2:30-6:00 Unit trainings

6:00 Dinner with everyone at the event, including all DR people.

6:30 presentation of Disaster Relief badges & hats.

7:30 Cleanup and go home.



A typical in-person training schedule looks like this:

12:30 PM Lunch (Provided by DR Food Service Trainees)

Training Process for ALL new Disaster Relief trainees.

Step 1: Register for training and pay fee.
Note: If you cancel within 7 days of the training event, your refund will be 50% as we have already run your background check. However, you may defer your registration to the next training date.  

Step 2: Complete the online course "DR101:Involving Southern Baptists In Disaster Relief" parts 1-4 and EV101 & EV102 BEFORE your training day. You will NOT be able to train if these course have not been completed.
Note: If you are cross-training you do not need to complete these courses again.

Step 3: Go to inperson training or train 'in the field'.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age (21 years of age for Child Care unit)

HOWEVER, starting in 2022 high school students, those having already completed the 8th grade, will be able to train with their parent, grandparent or legal guardian. More to come!
*Serving in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief requires active participation or active member of an Ohio Southern Baptist Church 

Unit training available for specific units determined by event. Check each registartion for which untis are training.

Training fees:
$40/person for new trainees
$20/person for cross-train

$20/person to do the online work to re-certify your ID and background check.

     Training fees are per person. We do not have a discount for couples training together due to the cost of the training.
