Worship 424
John 4:24 says, “God is
spirit, and those who worship Him, MUST worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
This verse was the foundation that gave us the start for re-tooling our worship
conference. First the first time the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio and
Cedarville University partnered together to brand the Worship 4:24 conference.
What was a thought several months ago became reality on January 8-9, 2010. With
Travis Cottrell leading the way in worship and a host of
grade “A” breakout
leaders, this year’s event was more than we could have ever imagined.
On Friday night, Travis
Cottrell and his team led worship with a 200 voice choir. What a treat and a
blessing all at the same time. Songs like Victory in Jesus, Alive Forever Amen,
Jesus Saves, and In Christ Alone are just a few of the songs that were sung
that evening. The night was filled with passion and praise as we looked to
worship in spirit and in truth. By the time the evening was over the tone had
been set for the rest of the conference. If Friday was any indication of how
this
conference was going to go we were just going to have to hang on. And hang
on we did, because Saturday started where Friday had left off. Our first
general session started with over 300 people, which had never happened before
and we knew God was doing something special. Many of our breakout sessions were
filled to capacity and our breakout leaders had the time of their lives. We
received comments like:
“Had a GREAT time on Ohio, looking forward to coming back”, “Thanks…had a blast!”, “It was a sweet time”, “Enjoyed Travis and was inspired by the conferences.” “This was a home run!”
As we came to the end of the day and Mike Harland, Director
of LifeWay Worship tied a bow on the entire conference. He took our foundational
verse, John 4:24 and just began to unpack its riches. By the end of the
conference we were filled to over flowing ready to go back to our churches and
implement some of what we were given.
I believe God has given us a greater platform to share with you the ideas and thoughts about biblical worship. I’m also grateful to Dr. Roger O’Neel and his staff at Cedarville University and the working partnership we have with them. Keep looking at the worship424.com website for updates and help us pray as we start making plans for next year's.
