Woong Park retired from the State Convention of Baptist in Ohio staff on December 31, 2010.
Woong faithfully served for 16 years as the Language Church Starter Strategist.  Woong and his wife Youn will remain in the Columbus area for a time then they plan to eventually settle in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Woong was born in North Korea sixty seven years ago.  He and his family eventually moved to South Korea where he spent most of his growing up years.  Naturally, Woong is fluent in the Korean Language which served him well in his position with the state convention.

Woong experienced his second birth by surrendering his life to Jesus Christ in 1987.  He was living in Houston, Texas at the time working as an engineer.   He was ordained to the ministry in 1990.  Shortly afterward Woong enrolled in Seminary at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas where he received a Master of Divinity degree.  Upon graduation from Seminary he came to Ohio and was Pastor of the Korean Congregation that met in Lane Avenue Baptist Church facilities in the Columbus area.  He served as Pastor for four years.  He then began to work on the state staff in 1995 and has served since that time in this position.

Woong’s fondest memories are with the relationships he has had over the years with many language pastors throughout Ohio. With over 60 language congregations in the state convention the opportunity to minister was abundant.

Woong said that his life and ministry has been blessed by the Lord.  He is thankful for the many blessings he has received over the years.  He stated “By His grace I am what I am; nothing more, nothing less!”  During the recent Christmas Holidays Woong and Youn received another blessing: their first grandchild, Christopher, was born.    The blessings keep pouring in and we pray that they continue to do so for Woong Park!
