New Stowe Center Facility Opens

The churches of central Ohio have prayed and sought the Lord for a larger facility for the Stowe Baptist Center for over twenty years.  March 7, 2010 marked the fulfillment of that dream with the opening of the 15,000 square foot facility at 888 Parsons Avenue in Columbus, OH.

Rev. Michael Brooks is the Director/Pastor who leads the ministry, which now houses a six seat dental clinic staffed by 14 dentists (along with two x-ray rooms), a fully equipped commercial kitchen for the soup kitchen, a food pantry, an eye clinic staffed by four eye doctors and a multi-purpose area for worship and basketball. This ministry provides well over 80,000 meals to needy people through the soup kitchen and food pantry each year. Children are tutored, emergency dental care is given, free eye exams are supplied, 739 children received toys through the Christmas Toy Chest, Christian Women’s Job Corps gives ladies a hand up instead of a hand out…and this is all done in Jesus’ name, to spread the gospel.

Director of Missions, Dr. Rich Halcombe consistently says, “The association is the churches!” And that association, Metro Columbus Baptist Association, and friends supply 350 volunteers each month to do the Lord’s work in the inner-city of Columbus, Ohio. Those same people committed $730,000 over three years to see the fulfillment of the dream through the Giving to Grow campaign, and have given $462,000 just over a year into the program. The total price for the project is $1.3M.
