Tahlequah, OK - The philosopher Aristotle once said, “The soul never thinks without a mental picture.”

There I was last June, at summer mission’s orientation in Columbus, Ohio.  I was learning about this new evangelism tool called Soularium.

The description on the card states, “Soularium provides 50 images and a few questions that allow you to enter and explore the lives of people around you. Something unique happens when we look at an image. It conjures up associations that are as unique as we are. Our experiences shape what we see.”

At that point, I couldn’t comprehend just how much God would use this tool to help connect people to Him.

A few days after that training we were on the campus of Youngstown State University.  My team had split up into pairs, and it was just me and the team leader. We decided to approach a student and as I started the conversation, I noticed my team leader backing away. The next thing I knew I was going through the Soularium questions. To my surprise, this complete stranger was opening up to me, and I could feel that God was directing the conversation. I even got to pray with the student and help plug him into the local church.

For the next month, my team traveled around Ohio sharing Soularium on college campuses with pretty much anyone who would listen. As we got more comfortable with it, we started incorporating the tool Share Jesus without Fear. Each day we would pray to see where God was working and join him there. God started showing up in huge ways! The last night I went out, I got to experience 7 people coming to know the Lord! I’m not saying that Soularium is the cause, but it made me more comfortable in sharing my faith.

After I graduated from Northeastern State in December, I began my job as the Intern/Associate for NSU BCM.  One of my main roles here is to implement Soularium through our base groups, and visit students on campus personally. In just two short months, God has allowed me to share my faith with about 20 individuals. I’ve seen so many different students who have so many different beliefs. I never realized how much of a mission field my campus is.

My team leader from Ohio, Brian Frye recently visited Oklahoma to train our students in Soularium for our upcoming spring break road trip. After the training, our Soularium teams have been expected to share their faith on campus at least once a week. Many of the students who were nervous about this became excited once they were trained. Some couldn’t wait to start.

Becca and Megan, two of our students, took Soularium home with them the night they were trained and shared with their roommate,*Hailey, who is from Korea.

“The cards are a great icebreaker and way to get the ball rolling,” said Becca Mc Neil, Sapulpa sophomore. “It’s an easy segue into spiritual conversation.”

As Becca and Megan shared with Hailey, they began understand that she knew a lot about Christianity. Megan asked Hye Yun if she knew how to pray, and through that discovered that she wanted to have a relationship with Jesus.

“The rest of the conversation was pretty easy. Hailey knew she believed, she just needed help in understanding her need for Salvation,” Becca said.

The girls then prayed with her and Hailey became a Christian.

That’s only one story! In the two weeks since the training, we have heard many more stories of how God is working on campus. Our students have met all kinds of individuals and invested themselves into those lives. There is quite an excitement in the BCM, and we cannot wait to see what God will do next.

Henry Blackaby once said that as Christians we are to see where God is at work and meet him there.  Through much prayer and faith our students are beginning to see that, and they are following in a big way.
