Loving Distressed Children

Loving Distressed Children

A team of 21 child care workers left Huber Heights, OH on September 3 for Dallas, Texas to take care of children in a shelter at the Dallas Convention Center.  Four Michgan people came down to join us.

We had upward of 134 children a day at the center.  In the hallway where we took care of the children, there was no air conditioning or no water.  We had several of child care workers get sick throughout the week from a virus going around in the shelter. Days were long, but we made a difference in the lives we touched.  At the first of the week, many children came in with fear in their little eyes.  By the end of the week, you could see the trust in the eyes of these precious lives and smiles on their little faces.  This team cared for a total of 163 children for the week.  The chaplains had the privilege of leading 15 people to the Lord during the week.  Eighteen Bibles were distributed during the week.  The last day of work for this team was September 11, 2017.  Eight fresh volunteers arrived that evening to replace us.  Four of the original team stayed for the second week.  The shelter closed down after work on Thursday, 14 September.  They spent Friday packing up the Child Care Unit for Texas and left Saturday morning to come home.  There were two more salvations and a total of 22 children were taken care of the second week.

Thank you so much for your prayers.
